Targeting former celebrity homes in the Movie Colony, the Palm Springs Historical Society has planned a walking tour called “Frank Sinatra’s Neighborhood” on April 25 and May 2. These specially planned walking tours are designed to showcase celebrity homes and significant architecture to participants. Beginning at 9:30a.m., the tours are 2 hours long and the price is $15 per person.  The exact location of the tour meeting place will be given at time of ticket purchase.

The celebrity homes include Frank Sinatra, Gloria Swanson, Cary Grant, Dinah Shore, Jack Benny, Van Johnson, and others.  Homes with significant architecture include those designed by mid-century Modernist architects E. Stewart Williams, Donald Wexler, William Cody, Hugh Kaptur, and others.  This in-depth tour provides an opportunity to find out how Palm Springs became The Playground of the Stars.

The tour is led by a guide who is  very knowledgeable about the celebrity history and the architectural styles of Palm Springs. Information may be obtained from Palm Springs Historical Society Director Jeri Vogelsang or any of the staff at the Historical Society, (760) 323-8297.
