What $400,000 can buy you in Palm Springs, Los Angeles or San Diego

Welcome to PKG Comparisons, where we at The Paul Kaplan Group show you how far your $$ goes in the desert, compared to other areas.  So today, lets say you're considering a move to either Palm Springs, Los Angeles, or San Diego and your budget is $400,000.  What can that get you in each area?

Lets begin in Palm Springs:  This single family home is listed for $369,900;  (Plus $100 HOA Fees)   At approximately 1,835 square feet, it features three bedrooms and two baths plus double garage.  Its located at Mountaingate, a gated community as you enter Palm Springs from Los Angeles.  The home features 9' ceilings, an open concept living area, and expansive windows that open up to the back yard where you can take in the views. Finally we end up in the trendy North Park Neighborhood of San Diego. Offered at $350,000, (HOA Fees $215).  2 bedrooms, 2 baths, approximately 740 Square feet.   Located at 4153 Idaho Street, #5, this 2nd floor condo features views of the park directly across the street.  Recently remodeled to include laminate floors, stainless steel kitchen appliances plus a single detached garage.  Located near shops and restaurants and a few minutes from downtown San Diego.




 

We love Los Angeles, San Diego (and of course Palm Springs) here at The Paul Kaplan Group.  Both are just a 2 hour drive (if you plan traffic right) from Palm Springs.  However, you can get a lot more for your money in the desert.  Many of our clients are cashing out of their home equity in other metropolitan areas, buying something for less in the desert, and banking the extra cash for early retirement.
