The Racquet Club Road Estates, located approximately North of Vista Chino Ave and East of Indian Canyon Blvd., was built by the Alexander Construction Company between 1959 and 1962, and designed by William Krisel of Palmer and Krisel Architects.
The first homes at Racquet Club Road Estates were completed in 1959, lacated in the vicinity of the popular Palm Springs Racquet Club. The homes were designed as weekedn getaway pads, by William Krisel. They consisted of 1225 square foot houses on slab with single pane glass and without insulation. The beauty in these houses, however, is the post and beam construction allowing soaring rooflines, an open floor plan, and an indoor/outdoor relationship to the generous 1/4 acre lots dottted with poodled olive trees and fan palms.
The neighborhood has experienced a major renaissance in the past decade. Many homes have been carefully restored and updated, to help create one of Palm Springs' most desireable mid-century neighborhoods.
